Viewing and analyzing previous imports
The Import data panel isn’t limited to the upload in progress: it builds up one entry per import you launch, so it works as the list of what you’ve imported so far.
What it shows
Section titled “What it shows”At the top, the overall counters — Progress, Active, Total, Imported and Errors — and the legend of possible states: Processing, Queued, Completed, Partial and Cancelled.
Below, one entry per upload with the file name and its size, the module it went to, the status, the rows processed, the percentage, how many were imported and how many failed. A file declaring two sheets shows up as two entries, one per module, and the Total counter adds them up: after two consecutive imports — one file of Contacts, and one file with Contacts and Companies — the panel showed 3 Total.
Any entry that failed carries its own “View errors (N) →”, with the log for that specific upload — see Reviewing and troubleshooting record import errors.
How long it lasts
Section titled “How long it lasts”The panel lives in the browser session, not on the server: it’s a history of “what you’ve imported this visit,” not a permanent record. Reload the page and the panel is empty, and it doesn’t fill back up: no request goes to the server to rebuild the earlier uploads, so whatever left the screen can’t be recovered.
So before you leave or reload:
- Download the error log for any upload that failed.
- Keep the file you uploaded, which is what lets you repeat or correct the load.
What the panel doesn’t do
Section titled “What the panel doesn’t do”The counters tell you how many rows went in and how many failed, but they don’t lead any further: there’s no way to see which records a given import created, how many associations it generated, download the original file, or reuse an earlier upload as a template for the next one.
Frequently asked questions
In the Import data panel, which builds up one row per upload with its status, its rows and its errors for as long as you stay on the page.
Every one from the session. A file with two sheets shows up as two entries, one per module, and the Total counter adds them up.
No: reloading leaves it empty and it isn't rebuilt. Download the error log before you leave.
No. The panel gives you each upload's counters and errors, but it doesn't lead to the records it created, nor let you reuse it as a template.
